The Azerbaijan Bar Association will appeal to international human rights organizations in connection with the facts of violence against Azerbaijanis in Russia, Chairman of the Bar Association Anar Bagirov said, SİA informs.
He commented on the detentions of people of Azerbaijani origin in Russia, noting that he has personally known Shahin Shikhlinskiy for many years. According to Bagirov, he and his son are experienced lawyers in Russia: "Their only 'guilt' is that they defended the rights of members of the diaspora who were illegally detained in recent days. The Shikhlinskiys participated in the trial as defenders of our brutally beaten compatriots, and that is why violence is being used against them. The father and son, being lawyers, are humiliated and beaten in front of everyone, like hardened criminals. Shikhlinskiy is also a well-known businessman, the leader of the diaspora. Lawyers and attorneys are already illegally detained for their professional activities, and inadequate violent measures are used against them."
